FOUL! THIS IS A GOOD PLACE TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THINGS I GOT WRONG (OR THE FACT THAT I DIDN'T MENTION YOU EVEN THOUGH YOU WERE REALLY GREAT).

Not a complaint (I'm just a bit too old to have been there), but missing back story. I was one of the founding tri-captains of the Harvard Ultimate team in the fall of 1977, during my senior year. Which means I answered an ad and came to a first meeting, and since I wrote rock criticism for the Independent, promised to get us some press. (At which I succeeded; I've got to see whether I've got a copy of that story). We played a bunch of matches and lost all but one.

The highlight was going down to Yale and playing them simultaneously with the football Game. That made it seem real. We crashed the night before in the Yale team's dorm rooms; I recall a long debate about the relative merits of Robin Trower and Mahavishnu John McLaughlin.

But there's also a small-world connection. In the spring of 1972 I codified a set of rules for a Frisbee Football game (unaware of Ultimate and any other predecessors) and got my prep school to approve it as an official intramural sport (everyone had to play one; ironically, I decided at the last moment to play JV baseball instead). That prep school was Northfield Mt. Hermon (the "Northfield" coming from a brand new merger with the sister school). -- Eric M. Van

I noticed in your list of other books on Ultimate you included one by Michael Baccarini and Tina Booth. Ayden (age 9) just finished a week of Ultimate day camp here in Atlanta led by Michael Baccarini! He loved it!!
